The sinking of the General Belgrano was the bloodiest and most controversial military action of the Falklands War. This is the story of government cover-ups and conspiracies; of whistleblowers, crusading politicians and journalists fighting for the story. And caught in the middle of it all, a young officer whose account of what happened contradicted Margaret Thatcher’s in every crucial detail. A n... more

  • An absorbing tale

This is a surprisingly engrossing tale of the trauma surrounding the sinking of the Argentinian battleship at the beginning of the Falklands War. ‘Surprising’ in that the series’ appeal lies in unravelling the lies and half-truths so often used by governments, lawyers and - hate to say it - the media. The aftermath of the sinking, rather than the calamity itself, is what fuels this dramatic tale.

  • Great Podcast

I wondered where this was headed to begin with thinking it might be one of those mediocre anti war stances. It turned out to be an excellent account of an important time for the UK with all the underlying political machinations that continue to this day. The subject is fascinating and the last episode especially poignant. A very honest and non judgemental account of what always was a controversial moment . Very much recommended.
