I do get value from this podcast but in the back of my head wonder about taking relationship advice from someone whose relationship seems so..practical and cold. I feel like Jon should be getting therapy to help him find someone who treats him warm, more loving. His wife is like ice, always saying passive things that are so negative towards him. There is no warmth between, just scientific relationship speak. I feel like he deserves better and would be happier with someone who can more easily sho... more

  • Get over the adds people!!! 🙄 Real life issues, Real people, Great insight!

I’ve been listening to John Kim for over four years now, and he continues to amaze me with his insight and compassion. His ability to break down mental health topics into relatable, practical guidance has given me so many tools to manage certain behaviors and challenges in my own life. I also appreciate when he brings his partner Vanessa onto the podcast to give her insight which is very helpful from a woman’s perspective, given her experiences and even more so now that she’s a mother.

  • So many ads

I understand that’s how podcast people make a living but this is just too much. I feel like I just listened to 15 min of ads and 5 minutes of talking. I like the insights a lot but I just can’t with the ads. Peace out.

Why Losing Everything Can Lead to Your Most Authentic Self
Q: How to heal from trauma bonds?
It's not enough to just want to break free. This requires planning and support, such as identifying how staying in the relationship is serving you.
Why Losing Everything Can Lead to Your Most Authentic Self
Q: How do you tell the difference between growth that feels uncomfortable, but necessary versus staying in something that's actually unhealthy for you?
There's no such thing as growth that doesn't feel uncomfortable, number one. Staying in something that is painful is not necessarily growth; that might be just being in a pattern of avoidance and pain.
