Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#62 - Anne Grace Glenn - Birth Day Presence
Q: What do you want listeners to take away from your story?
That life is communal work, and we are meant to love and support one another through birth, sickness, and death. The takeaway is an invitation to cultivate community, to pursue informed, respectful choices in birth and end-of-life care, and to recognize the sacredness of every moment in our shared journey.
#62 - Anne Grace Glenn - Birth Day Presence
Q: How can a partner effectively support a birthing person, especially during long or intense labors?
The most important thing is presence and verbal affirmation—being present, offering calm, encouraging words, and helping the birthing person stay centered. The partner's role is to hold space, communicate needs, and act as a guardian of the environment so the birthing person can stay focused on the work of labor.
#62 - Anne Grace Glenn - Birth Day Presence
Q: What ultimately drew you to inviting so many people to witness your births, and why that last part of the four (Sisters of Life) appeal to you so much?
It was about creating a space where birth could be seen as normal, human, and sacred, with a community that can support and model partnership in birth. The Sisters of Life emphasis on protecting and supporting life from conception to natural death resonates with the idea that birth and end-of-life care are integral parts of a life lived in faith and community.
#59 - Barrett Smith - Inside the Mind of a Painter
Q: How do you know when a painting is done?
Barrett describes a process of making a list of goals for the painting, then evaluating, and finally accepting that the painting often says it is not done, prompting a later rework to reach a satisfying finish.
#60 - Penny Rhodes - A Sojourn in Hell, On the Way to Heaven
Q: Why did you say yes to sharing your story on these platforms?
It felt like a calling and a way to help others see that redemption and healing are possible, even after profound mistakes.
