  • EU vibe is gone

It used to be a very European podcast. Now, it feels and sounds like a suburban American entertainment show

  • Awesome, please change the music

Great content about Tech entrepreneurship in Europe. The music reminds me of Seinfeld in the 90s. Please consider changing it.

  • Great show to stay on top of the EU startup scene

I really like listening to this show, especially because of the combination of news and interviews. Can highly recommend it, but don’t expect to get all the detailed news about startups in Europe every week. This is a great highlight show, and there’s simply too much happening in Europe to fit in 25 minutes :)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

"We are at the starting line" of pay by bank, says Stripe-backed TrueLayer CEO
Q: What is the significance of Amazon (and other major retailers) adopting Pay by Bank, and what does it suggest about the future of payments?
Amazon's adoption demonstrates that large, trusted brands see open banking payments as a natural and customer-friendly option that aligns with existing consumer behavior around digital wallets and bank-based authentication. It signals a broader industry shift toward merchant-led payments where major retailers help drive consumer familiarity and trust in Pay by Bank, paving the way for wider European rollout and future innovations like VRP-enabled commerce.
"We are at the starting line" of pay by bank, says Stripe-backed TrueLayer CEO
Q: Can you explain Pay by Bank in simple terms and how it compares with traditional card payments for both merchants and consumers?
Pay by Bank replaces card-based checkout with a direct bank-to-bank payment that leverages open banking, giving consumers instant confirmation and biometrics-based authentication while removing card network fees for merchants. It improves refunds speed, cuts friction in the checkout flow, and allows merchants to regain control of their payments stack, potentially lowering costs and speeding cash flow.
Our strategy is to build and control as much as possible", says Nebius co-founder.
Q: What are the differences in demand from vertical AI application companies compared to foundational model companies?
The demands vary significantly, with vertical companies needing specialized solutions while foundational models require broader resources.
Investors don't understand AI, says founder of OpenAI safety adviser
Q: What are the primary use cases for AI in defense?
Warner states that AI is primarily used for backend services like supply chain logistics and bureaucratic documentation within the military.
Investors don't understand AI, says founder of OpenAI safety adviser
Q: Do you think we're in an AI bubble at the moment?
Warner expresses that there are aspects of the AI market that seem out of proportion, suggesting that investors don't fully understand the technology and this could lead to a bubble.
