  • Insightful

Great moderator. Smart enough to ask thoughful questions but really lets the guests speak and get it out.

  • Disgruntling

It’s all good but the entire premise is just a terrible glorification of the problem we’re facing which is soulless hyper acceleration and fetishization of product.

  • AI

This show used to be so informative and interesting. Now it just becomes an ad channel for AI companies to promote their products. What happened to the hard questions? Are tech people this basic nowadays?

  • Some nuggets but a lot of filler

There are one or two great episodes but sadly too many episodes are way too long. And to be frank too many episodes should have been killed before releasing. E.g. the recent episode with Nicole Forsgren, it was 1 hour of waffle I don’t think anyone can have learnt anything from it. Never lower the bar on quality! To take another recent example the episode with Shreya and Hamel about evals: the useful information in this episode was excellent but could have been communicated in less than 5 minute... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The most successful AI company you’ve never heard of | Qasar Younis
Q: What advice do you have for founders who aren't seeing traction early and feel pressure to hype their company publicly?
Good companies tend to gain traction early and sustain it over a decade by ensuring the foundation—co-founders, market, phase—fits the product and customer needs; if early signals are not informing a clear path, consider a hard reset or reorientation rather than forcing premature success.
The most successful AI company you’ve never heard of | Qasar Younis
Q: So what was your philosophy of staying quiet and then starting to talk about your story after building quietly?
The approach is deliberate and rooted in radical pragmatism: focus on customers and product first, learn in private, and only later share a narrative when it truly serves the business and mission. It's about balancing the need to propagate ideas with maintaining focus on building something durable.
How I built a 1M+ subscriber newsletter and top 10 tech podcast | Lenny Rachitsky
Q: Why did you pivot to a children's book later in your career?
To translate the chart-based approach into early learning concepts for kids, leveraging rhythm, opposites, and visuals to teach, inspired by things learned from writing adult books and wanting to reach younger audiences through intuitive charts.
How I built a 1M+ subscriber newsletter and top 10 tech podcast | Lenny Rachitsky
Q: What moment or collection of moments led you to go full in on the newsletter?
A string of early successes on Medium, encouragement from a VC friend, and a nine-month run of weekly writing, followed by a strategic move to Substack and the decision to monetize with a paywall, culminating in a clear belief that the format could sustain long-term with consistent output.
How I built a 1M+ subscriber newsletter and top 10 tech podcast | Lenny Rachitsky
Q: What do you want to say to our mothers right now?
This moment underscores the candid, personal storytelling approach that gives listeners a sense of the host's life and values, while also weaving in the tension between public persona and private family life.
