  • 7/19/26 Teresa helping her parents with finances.

Thank you for answering Teresa’s question about helping her 64 and 70 y.o. parents with their finances. I will be in a similar situation as her parents and it is important that I hear that reality on your podcast and from others who know. Although I am aware of my future, hearing it from others makes it more real. I do not want to rely on my daughter. I will continue to investigate and try out options. Moving to a more affordable country? Not an easy decision!

  • Saying with love in heart

I am a 50 year old recent widow who is learning about money for the first time in life. I found Suze’s podcast about 6 months ago and have learned some very important things. I just wish there wasn’t too much mushy stuff with KT. It’s annoying and distracting. I find myself skipping over Ask Suze and KT episodes but then feel bad because I don’t want to miss anything important. I couldn’t get through the Mother’s Day episode because of KT’s nonstop crying. Please know I love you ladies and I am ... more

I have a hard time learning anything from this podcast because I get so turned off by the cringy banter between the co-hosts. 🤢

How Do I Settle A Deceased Parent’s Credit Card Debt?
Q: Should Betsy keep the spouse as primary beneficiary or move some assets to other family members via a trust or contingent designations?
Keep the spouse as the primary beneficiary for simplicity and tax efficiency, then set up contingent beneficiaries for other family members to preserve flexibility without triggering unnecessary taxes.

Q: If an ex-spouse remarries, are you still entitled to Social Security benefits, and how should you navigate survivor vs. divorced benefits?

How Many Ex-Wives Are Entitled To His Social Security?
Q: How do provisional income thresholds affect taxation of Social Security, and is there a trap with high 401k balances?
There is no trap; the key is provisional income, which determines how much of Social Security is taxed, and it depends on total income including withdrawals and IRA distributions.

Q: Is Roth conversion advisable for someone 73 with traditional IRA money and required minimum distributions?
Generally not advisable to convert in this specific situation; taxes and distribution rules make a straight conversion less beneficial; consult a CPA for personalized guidance.
