  • Ick!

I have a hard time learning anything from this podcast because I get so turned off by the cringy banter between the co-hosts. 🤢

  • Good info if you can get through the sarcasm

As a new listener I find the information provided valuable but I couldn’t stomach the insults and sarcastic comments that followed each question that was read off in a recent episode. If people are new they don’t know the advice that she’s been giving for decades. Even if they do, they’re asking for a reason. Comes across as a woman who is jaded in her career and ready to retire instead of coming from a place of genuine care.

  • Palantir

Why on earth would Suze suggest we invest in this evil company??? While I appreciate her financial advice in general, I’m not sure how she and KT can feel ok recommending this.

We all have the freedom to choose who we would like to listen to. I am so happy I “found” Suze again! Used to listen to her in my 20’s on TV and happy I found her in these podcasts couple years ago. Suze and KT have the heart for sharing their knowledge and wisdom. I truly appreciate them both so much! So thank you for ALL you do! Your guidance is priceless!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Should I Buy or Rent After My Divorce?
Q: General question about whether to buy or rent in retirement in North Central Florida; is buying a home advisable given costs and insurance?
Renting is often prudent in retirement when insurance and ongoing maintenance costs are high; preserves nest egg for stable living costs and reduces exposure to property-based risks.
Should I Buy or Rent After My Divorce?
Q: From Ellen, I have a Roth IRA over five years but income limits prevent funding; when I roll a Roth 403B into a Roth IRA, does the five-year clock apply?
The five-year rule for Roths begins with the Roth IRA itself; rollover from employer plans does not restart or count toward that clock; if you open a new Roth IRA, the clock for that new account starts there.
Should I Buy or Rent After My Divorce?
Q: From Liz, I changed jobs and am deciding whether to roll over my 401k to an IRA or transfer to the new employer 401k; how does pro rata apply with backdoor Roths?
If you roll over to a traditional IRA, the backdoor Roth can trigger pro rata considerations; better to keep funds in the 401k if you plan a backdoor Roth to avoid mixing with other IRAs.
Should I Buy or Rent After My Divorce?
Q: From Sherry, I inherited an IRA which I know has to be at zero in 10 years. Should I rebuy some of the stocks after I sell them since I can't transfer them?
Learned strategy: transfer the shares in-kind into the inherited IRA so you don't have to sell and rebuy; plan the distribution method with the custodian and avoid unnecessary triggers.
Can I Transfer From an Inherited IRA to My Roth?
Q: My sister unexpectedly passed away in 2016. I inherited her IRA and I still have RMDs that are distributed. Can I transfer from this IRA into a Roth?
You cannot transfer or convert an inherited IRA directly into a Roth. You must take the required minimum distributions and pay ordinary income taxes; you could only fund a Roth if you have earned income to contribute, not by converting the inherited funds directly.
