  • Disappointed

After prompting a recent podcast of Jill’s it was proceeded by an advertisement by a Planned Parenthood hood spot or as I prefer to more accurately name them “legal infanticide” I CANNOT AND NEVER EVER follow or listen to one more podcast from Jill!

  • I love Jill’s great no bull money advice.

Wish i had paid attention 20 years ago instead of a year before retirement. Her advice is clear and sage like. She speaks from such a generous place I think anyone could benefit from this podcast

Investment Strategy Going Forward
Q: What should I prioritize as I approach retirement—paying down debt or saving more for retirement?
Prioritize paying down the high-interest second mortgage first, build up a cash cushion of at least around 50,000, and then consider increasing retirement contributions, starting with Roth allocations and eventually building investments in a brokerage account after debt and savings are solid.
Pension Buy Back Strategy
Q: I'm trying to recalibrate my pension and retirement savings plan. How should I approach buying years of service with my 403B and other accounts?
Focus on the mechanics: evaluate how many years you can buy, the cost per year, and where the funds will come from (often using traditional 403B funds). Consider consolidating old accounts into your current plan to simplify management, prioritize Roth funding where possible, and ensure you have a plan for future years that maintains diversification and liquidity while still optimizing the pension benefit.
Can I Chill Out?
Q: Is there any money outside retirement accounts that could be used in a pinch?
Yes, there are traditional rollover accounts and a brokerage, which could be tapped with tax considerations to fund emergencies.
Can I Chill Out?
Q: How much are you spending now, and what are your retirement income sources?
They spend around $7,000-$8,000 monthly; they have a pension of about $4,000 a month next year and retirement accounts with a mix of Roth and traditional funds; they also have rollovers and a brokerage.
Can I Chill Out?
Q: What brings you to us?
Mary explains they've depleted emergency savings and are nearing retirement; they want a plan to rebuild a cushion and manage retirement withdrawals.
