  • Basic language

As much as I like the show, it drives me insane to hear an expert unable to pronounce English words correctly. It’s hard to trust someone’s advice who can’t pronounce- especially or ask or recognize correctly. The same goes for printed material that ignores capitalization, punctuation and correct grammar. We are losing touch with respect for the English language and the basics of communication.

  • Do not like your subs

I really enjoy Jean and all HER podcasts. I do not like the voice or topics of Jay Shelty. I definitely do not want to hear from Oprah.

  • A Week in Her Wallet.

I continue to love hearing how other women handle their expenses. I am a low income senior (a child care taker) who has had to learn finances the hard way, through personal hardship and bad habits. My parents tried to teach me, I wouldn’t listen.

    I am a cash girl!

I go to the bank once a month and pull out the cash I need, divide it into category envelopes. . . food, gas, household soft goods, hair cuts, pedicure. I also build up cash savings for things I pay for every 6 months or annually. more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 520: Why Smart, Hardworking Women Are Struggling With Money Right Now And What To Do About It
Q: Let's start with revenge spending. Some people call it doom spending. What is it and where does it come from?
Doom spending is a reaction to financial anxiety where the brain seeks action to self-soothe; people buy to feel temporarily in control and better in the moment, though the relief is short-lived and often followed by guilt and a renewed cycle of anxiety.
Ep 519: When Health Derails Wealth: How Women Can Safeguard Their Retirement
Q: Tell us how health and wealth are connected in retirement.
Health costs and the risk of dementia consistently threaten retirement security, so planning should focus on long-term care, cognitive health, and flexible income strategies.
Mailbag with Tori Dunlap: “$100K in Debt, $180K Income, Now What?”
Q: What can a listener do when debt feels overwhelming and traditional loan options are out of reach?
Focus on a combination of credit counseling for potentially lower interest rates, targeted payoff of the highest-interest cards, and building a modest emergency fund to avoid future debt, while maintaining communication with creditors about hardship options.
Ep 521: The Economy Is Sending Mixed Signals: Here's What That Means for Your Wallet
Q: What is your take on what the outlook looks like for the average American household going into Q2?
The best case is a quick easing of tensions abroad, stabilization of oil prices, and room for the Fed to cut rates, which would support hiring; the worst case is a prolonged conflict that keeps upward pressure on prices and forces the Fed to hold or raise rates, leading to more layoffs and potential recession.
Stephanie Link's 2026 Market Outlook: International Stocks, Crypto, & the AI Power Boom
Q: Stacey is crypto-curious. How should crypto and Bitcoin fit into a diversified portfolio, and is the comparison to AI investing fair?
Stephanie notes crypto is very volatile and still in early stages; limit to around 2% of the portfolio, or consider owning an exchange to avoid timing. She emphasizes crypto can be part of diversification but should be small and not dominate the portfolio, while AI and tech exposure may offer broader growth opportunities.
