Have been a fan of the pod since sharing an episode where Rebecca generously promoted a book I was a part of, On Being Jewish Now. Was quickly hooked and empowered by so many episodes--but this Jenny Just interview really moved me! Getting woman to play at the table with this superpower skill and mindset is brilliant. Loved to learn RM has been playing since 13! This is a must listen and share.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Rebecca Rittenhouse Was Tired of Waiting to Be Chosen, So She Built Something of Her Own
Q: What inspired you to pivot from acting to creating Privet Beauty?
I wanted the freedom to control my own opportunities and to work on something I'm deeply passionate about, especially in beauty, where I felt there was space for a more personalized brow product that reflected my own needs as a consumer.
Lucy Guo on Why Founders Need Delusion, Not Certainty
Q: What role does transparency play in leadership and culture?
Radical transparency is key; leaders should seek information from multiple sources and avoid reliance on a single reporting line to prevent blind spots and to ensure issues are addressed promptly.
Lucy Guo on Why Founders Need Delusion, Not Certainty
Q: How do you handle team restructuring without destabilizing the company?
She describes having backups and a plan to reallocate underutilized talent, and highlights that not every part of a team needs to be replaced; a strategic reshuffle can preserve momentum while aligning with company goals.
Lucy Guo on Why Founders Need Delusion, Not Certainty
Q: What drives you to take big risks and pursue ambitious ventures?
Guo emphasizes relentless belief and delusion in a healthy form, arguing that starting a company often requires an almost irrational confidence to overcome fear of failure and to push through early setbacks.
Model and Creator Lexi Wood on Love, Public Judgment, and Choosing Herself
Q: And coming out of that, how have you looked at building your business differently? And when I say you're building a business, a lot of people will just disregard a model or a creator as like, that's not a business. But there's definitely, if you're having success, it is a business. There's a method to it.
Lexi explains that you must be strategic, embrace a broader skill set beyond modeling (law, accounting), and treat collaborations with family as an infrastructure to scale. She emphasizes goal-setting, concise execution, and leveraging brand partnerships to diversify revenue, while acknowledging the industry's complexities and need for fearless action.
