Q: Zara, as a neurodivergent woman and expert for disabled people, can you please explain what neurodivergence is, and what are some of the signs and symptoms of neurodivergence for our listeners?
Neurodivergence refers to a broad collection of conditions where people are not neurotypical, originally rooted in autistic and ADHD communities, but extending to dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and sometimes depression or anxiety. Symptoms vary widely between individuals, and even within conditions, and women often present differently, with masking playing a big role in delayed or missed diagnoses.
