Reviewed with John Mottola of The Deep Purple Podcast. Did he turn me around on the brass sounds?

First covered with Nathan Beaudry of the Deep Purple Podcast. This is such an interesting song in the band’s history and I was thrilled he wanted to cover it. What happens when I go solo? Well, no pun intended…

Originally reviewed with Corey Morrissette, from a plethora of podcasts, listed in the show notes. I was just a guest on his show, The Power of Positive Geeking, talking about the movie Ckerks.

Had a great time with Peter on this one. Unfortunately, this song did not bring him the joy I was hoping for but what happens when I dig in alone?

I’ve been a long time listener of Scott’s podcasts. The Uriah Heep is worth listening to as well. Scott has a unique view on these songs. It’s nice to hear some things I agree with, but also what we don’t. Deep Purple has such an expanse when it comes to styles and members. Everyone seems to have different favorites and disliked songs. I’m just finishing up Come Taste The Band now. I look forward to hearing the rest of the catalog.
So cool to have someone like Scott giving his synopsis of each Deep Purple tune. He explores the song bit by bit and points out undiscovered parts of the tune that the average Deep Purple fan had no idea about. You might not always agree with his views but that’s the beauty of music. Thank you for the show.
This is my most listened show these days. As a DP fan since early 1990’s I just have to appreciate this kind of dedication. And yes – even if I wasn’t a fan, this would be much appreciated. Scott is recording ridiculous amount of episodes per week (I have to wonder how does he do that, mostly just by himself speaking alone) and altough I’ve followed quite constantly my Podcast feed – it seems like there’s always something new to listen to, or maybe listen again as I sometimes press play on bedt... more
Essential listening if you’re a serious fan of Deep Purple, each track broken down in detail. Despite having listened to Purple and related bands for about 5 decades Scott is pointing out stuff I’d missed or not really paid attention to that actually really enhances my subsequent listening experience.
This is an essential listen for anyone interested in the history of Deep Purple. Scott takes an in-depth look at each studio recording ever made by the band and he never gets too technical whilst expertly picking apart each performance. His enthusiasm is really infectious and makes me want to go back and listen again to all that great music. A 5 star show !
