This podcast is amazing, I’ve listened to it a couple of times and no doubt will go back to it again when I need a little Dolly-based pick-me-up 💖
Honestly something was bugging me throughout this podcast and the section where she interviews Tokyo Sexwale is SO CRINGE! As a South African I really want the hosts to know that this is bad journalism. Firstly if you are going to pronounce Tokyo’s last name or Apartheid - GOOGLE THE PRONUNCIATION!
So often American’s use Mandela or Apartheid to bolster an argument that suits them. Stop using us and our painful history in this way. The bad journalism is because they take what Tokyo is saying

I think the negative reviewers missed something…all the other people in the podcast are not trying to be bright and shiny like Dolly, they are showing how different they are from her but still either love her or mesh with her. And she is showing how she respects others and their feelings. Some are turned off by the people in the story but I think it further validates the host point that Dolly has a unifying personality.
I can’t believe I’ve only just found this. It’s magical ✨ So much history & culture & of course, Dolly. Incredibly done. Thank you ☺️
I’m 48, southern and we were taught, don’t talk about religion or politics. People are obsessed with knowing everyone’s political views these days. There’s good reasons we were taught that. It can come between relationships when it shouldn’t. It’s none of anyone’s business who anyone else votes for. That’s a personal choice. When y’all realize that and stop basing life on politics, you will be much happier for it. Who you vote for doesn’t change who you are. Again, none of your business.
