Fr. Mitch looks at St. Paul’s philosophy on suffering in the body, which he sees as the temple of the Holy Spirit, and the ways in which he longs for the resurrection of the body.

While many look to St. Paul as their salvation theology source, Fr. Mitch shows how St. Paul treated his suffering and its meaning in the context of Jesus’ suffering on the cross.

Fr. Mitch talks about St. Paul’s explanation to the Corinthians of the Eucharist which he learned from Christians who came before him based on what Christ did the eve of His death.

Fr. Mitch looks at how after being mocked for trying to match the lofty wisdom of the Greek philosophers, St. Paul focuses on the crucified Christ as being the foundation of faith.

  • Love this program & deeply respect Fr. Mitch

I enjoy listening to whatever program Fr. Mitch is hosting. I have learned so much under his teaching—I wish I had had the opportunity to have him as a professor in college! He would be among my all-time favorites, for sure! Highly recommend anything and everything he does. He has written several books ( I own about 10 of them thus far!). I appreciate how open and direct and transparent he is. It’s just nice to listen to Fr. Mitch—his wisdom, knowledge, humor, and obvious love for the unadultera... more

  • Far-right priest

I have listened to Father Mitch many times and found his teachings so informative. The man knows his Bible. But I am always turned off by his far-right views which leak into his program. He really would have felt comfortable supporting fascism under Hitler during WWII. Even on his November 17th telecast he mentioned how the communism of Russia, China and North Korea caused more deaths than the present pandemic, saying it mostly only affects the elderly. He never mentioned Hitler’s murder of at l... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Paul on the Cross, Pt. 5
Q: Where are the super apostles Greek and who trained them?
The host explains that Paul does not name the super apostles and suggests they were likely Hellenized Jews or Greek-speaking Jews who had become Christian; he cautions against assuming they trained in a formal, identifiable way and uses this to contrast Paul's own calling.
Paul on the Cross, Pt. 6
Q: Where are you from?
I'm from Millbury, Ohio.
Paul on the Cross, Pt. 4
Q: Why did Jesus descend into hell after the crucifixion?
Fr. Pacwa explains that Jesus preached to the spirits in prison to proclaim salvation to those who died before him, a teaching drawn from 1 Peter 3 and related scriptural traditions, allowing Adam and Eve and others to be redeemed in anticipation of the Resurrection.
Paul on the Cross, Pt. 2
Q: If I lived back then and wanted to follow Paul's path, where would I have gotten baptized and who would have performed it?
Apollos, who had come from Alexandria and was well-trained in the Old Testament, performed baptisms in that context; Paul acknowledges Apollos' role in baptisms as part of church growth, while emphasizing Paul's own focus on preaching.
Commentary on Isaiah, Pt. 57
Q: John asks how Catholics view the additional books from the Eastern Orthodox tradition like First Esdras and Third Maccabees compared to the Deuterocanonical books.
Catholics view these books similarly to the Protestant Deuterocanon—acknowledged and used in tradition, but not read in the liturgy in many contexts, and not treated as part of the divinely closed canon in the same way as the protocanonical books.
