If you care about NYC schools, transparency, or making informed choices for children in a system with limited options, this podcast is well worth your time. Some of the negative reviews appear to be reacting to the existence of accelerated education rather than the substance of what’s discussed here. That’s unfortunate, because the podcast itself is nuanced, self-aware, and extremely informative. I’d strongly recommend listening for yourself and deciding whether these conversations add value.
Education is important and should be political or gamed for a specific outcome. 1+1=2 anywhere in the world. Lower the standards and you will struggle in the real world.
The first two episodes were very informational. Loved the even paced, rational conversation.
Not sure why there are a few reviews bashing the show - not all brown skinned immigrants support the asinine DeBlasio policies. This show speaks for a lot of us. The school system should not be focused on being a social service agency.
As a parent of 2 GE kids in NYC Public Schools I support GT classes. I think entry should be in 3rd grade via both a standardized test and teacher/parent recos. Between ... more
