  • Fish Crazy

Peter has a great style in the store and at shows, but he has found his stride interviewing others on fishing. His episode with Bob Popovic covers an amazing era. While flies and materials change, the story of the Love of the Bite is universal. He has a self effacing interview style that puts his guest at ease. And he knows when to listen to let an answer develop.

Thank you for taking the time to get these stories recorded and out for others to enjoy.

  • Good topics

Good material but choppy editing, and the interviewing needs work. Saying yes mhmm after every question asked, as if the answer to the question was already known gets old quick.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Last 40 Feet: Capt. Ben Whalley on Fly Design, Presentation, and Problem Solving
Q: Is there a magic fly, or is it all about presentation?
There isn't a single magic fly; success depends on how well the fly design fits the situation, with presentation, movement, and timing playing crucial roles. The guest emphasizes observation, environment, and adaptive tactics over chasing a universal pattern.
Dan Wells: Cracking the Night Game — Estuaries, Big Flies, and Strategic Striper Fishing
Q: What are some fishing techniques suitable for stripers?
Wells discusses using big flies and stealthy approaches, especially during night fishing.
The True Value of a Fish: Economics of Recreational Fishing with Dr. Ben Meadows
Q: What is the difference between stated preference methods and revealed preference methods?
Stated preference methods derive values from surveys, while revealed preference methods assess values based on observed behaviors.
The True Value of a Fish: Economics of Recreational Fishing with Dr. Ben Meadows
Q: Help us understand how you maximize more value of a fish.
Maximizing value can be complex due to unique factors in recreational fisheries.
Captain Brian Kelly - Bunker School Strategy: Lures, Spoons & Flies
Q: What are a couple of things points to emphasize when a guest is on your boat?
I want them to know what I'm thinking and what I'm doing; I explain I'm looking for water temp breaks, bait piles, and birds.
