Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S21 Ep58: Paranormality: Normalising The Paranormal with Medium/Author, Kieran Stanislaw Mace
Q: How did the accident change your perception of reality?
The accident triggered a shift from a normal childhood to a continual experience of the paranormal, with intense memories of an otherworldly encounter and a sense that there is more to reality than what is commonly perceived.
S21 Ep56: The Treehouse: How To Rob A Bank/The True Story of Hollywood, The Bank Robber w/Shawn Johnson & Steven Myers
Q: How did the Treehouse evolve from a meth operation to a bank-robbery planning hub?
Steven Myers explains that Scott Scurlock's desire for creation and perfection, coupled with a need for a safe space to practice and execute plans, transformed a drug-operations project into a high-concept criminal enterprise centered around meticulous planning, disguises, and controlled environments such as the treehouse.
S21 Ep55: Voices Carry Here: Supernatural Stories of Ghosts, Mystery, and Suspense w/Gail Galotta
Q: Can you talk about the most challenging story to write, and why you chose to include it?
The babysitter story was particularly challenging due to its disturbing themes around children and danger, requiring careful handling to balance creepiness with credibility and avoid gratuitous violence.
S21 Ep55: Voices Carry Here: Supernatural Stories of Ghosts, Mystery, and Suspense w/Gail Galotta
Q: How did Twilight Zone influence your writing style and approach to endings?
She describes Twilight Zone as a benchmark for taking readers to uncanny places and leaving them with questions, not tidy conclusions, which shaped the book's tone and the way she builds tension.
S21 Ep55: Voices Carry Here: Supernatural Stories of Ghosts, Mystery, and Suspense w/Gail Galotta
Q: What sparked your interest in the supernatural and how did that lead to Voices Carry Here?
Gail explains that her childhood experiences and later writing experiences blurred the lines between reality and fantasy, guiding her toward stories that feel both strange and plausible, and that personal experiences, along with family histories, inspired the collection.
