  • Great listen for sailors

Never knew Scott came from radio but it sure shows in the excellent presentation. I don’t always agree some of the strong opinions but it’s super entertaining. I miss the retro boat show though .

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sailing Anarchy Podcast #76. Alex Simanis
Q: Why not Quantum or North, and what finally tipped the scales toward Doyle?
Quantum's model limited Ballard's ability to build sails in-house, which was a non-starter for the shop's culture and business model. North shared similar constraints, so Doyle offered both capability and necessary autonomy, aligning with the loft's values.
Sailing Anarchy Podcast #76. Alex Simanis
Q: What made Doyle's approach different this time that convinced you to sign on?
Doyle presented a stronger combination of brand support and flexibility, including access to top designers and actual collaboration on sail shapes, while still allowing Ballard/Sails to maintain independence and keep building sails locally for a broad range of clients.
Sailing Anarchy Podcast #75. Designer Thomas Tison
Q: What is the Airborn Foiler, how big is it, and who is it for?
The Airborn Foiler is a four-meter-long, one-person dinghy designed with the same stability as a Laser at waterline but with a wider deck and modern foil control. It aims to be accessible to a wide range of sailors by simplifying the foiling system to just four sheets and one mainsheet, enabling people with basic sailing skills to experience foiling.
Sailing Anarchy Podcast #75. Designer Thomas Tison
Q: Tell our listeners who you are, what you're doing, and why we should care.
Thomas introduces himself as a yacht designer based in the south of France, describing his philosophy of designing not just a single boat but a range of innovative vessels, including an active Americas Cup involvement with Ineos Britannia, the Exoskin wooden Elita, and the new Airborn Foiler intended for a broad spectrum of sailors.
Sailing Anarchy Podcast #67. Moose McClintock
Q: Where do you think America's Cup goes from here?
It's getting crushed under its own weight right now. To get it back to a more identifiable product that the masses can look at, it needs to change.
