  • Egregious Factual Inaccuracies

This podcasts information should not be accepted as true. In the episode about the St. Louis Browns there were at least three statements that were incorrect with the worst saying that the St. Louis Browns lost to the Dodgers in the 1947 World Series. The New York Yankees defeated the Dodgers in the 1947 World Series. The only World Series the Dodgers won in Brooklyn was 1955. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

From Last Place to World Series Champs: The 1914 Boston Braves (w/ Martin H. Bush)
Q: What do you think the key was for that series, that four-game sweep for the Braves?
The key was the Braves' belief in themselves after their successful regular season and Stallings managing to keep them focused and grounded despite facing a strong opponent in the Athletics.
From Last Place to World Series Champs: The 1914 Boston Braves (w/ Martin H. Bush)
Q: What was different about baseball back then?
The Dead Ball era saw lower offensive numbers due to the limitations of the baseballs used and the size of the ballparks leading to a style of play known as small ball, focusing on singles and base stealing rather than home runs.
From Last Place to World Series Champs: The 1914 Boston Braves (w/ Martin H. Bush)
Q: What was the team's culture like? How did they get that reputation before we go into this 1914 season?
The Braves were known as a team of losers and alcohol-soaked whiskey swiggers, having lost over 100 games in several seasons before 1914, fostering a fraternity-like camaraderie among the players, which contributed to their eventual success.
How Tobacco Created Baseball's First Collectibles (w/ @BrewingCards)
Q: What's been the reaction and feedback? What's it been like from folks who are seeing these cards for the first time on social media?
I've received positive feedback, with many people sharing insights on the historical context of the players featured.
How Tobacco Created Baseball's First Collectibles (w/ @BrewingCards)
Q: As a collector, how did you go about finding these cards to be able to build this set?
I started about 15 years ago and joined a website called Net 54 Baseball, which is dedicated to T206 cards.
