  • An absolute delight!

    Admittedly, Romeo and Juliet is far from my favorite of Shakespeare's plays, but the fact that the show is in a mix of English and Spanish caught my attention. This version is lovely, with fantastic production values all around. One benefit of using a story as well known as Romeo and Juliet is that even people who aren't totally familiar with all the nuances know the general story well enough to be able to follow it.

  • Don’t listen to program notes

    I love and know this Shakespeare play almost word for word. Listening to it in Spanglish makes my heart beat bright red! It is gorgeous. I live in California where this is how we converse on the reg and I encourage my children to learn as many languages as they can because we are all one and communication is key.

    However, I almost didn’t listen to this because of the program notes at the beginning. Why did the producers make this about American race politics? What difference does that make, esp... more
