  • Youth sports

Interesting episode but I think it misses the main point. The burnout doesn’t come from playing club or going to tournaments or even being busy playing. It comes when parents forget that the main point of sports is that playing should be fun instead of parents putting too much pressure on kids. Both my kids played college sports but our focus was always “work hard and have fun” only. • Excellent!

I just finished listening (for the second time) to Gaming Alone. Wow! Thank you Sarah!

As a “Grammy” to 6 boys and as a public school employee I can verify every symptom you addressed. It’s all very painfully true. But you offered hope for reform and reflection to stop and examine what is happening and what we can do to try to turn around the lives of our young men. Thank you a million times!

Q: How would you explain the difference between de-churching and de-conversion?
De-churching refers to the phenomenon of people leaving institutional churches for various reasons, while de-conversion implies a loss of faith altogether. De-churching often relates to social bonds fraying, rather than a rejection of faith itself.

Q: Can you share a little bit about what happened this summer and the impact that you think it's going to have on SBC churches?
The SBC ratified the decision to remove Saddleback Church, which is significant because it's one of the biggest churches in the largest Protestant denomination in the country. This has stirred a lot of confusion and discourse around women in ministry within the convention.
