  • Why does God Allow Evil

Although I agree it with what you are saying here, in the context of our current culture where so many Christians remain silent on the evils happening in Gaza, would have been more intellectually relevant to use at least one current example. By only using holocaust examples you don’t challenge current professing Christians who refuse to acknowledge and accept the genocide happening there. It’s because we are Christians that we acknowledge this evil by whoever and wherever it occurs.

Can We Trust a God Who Allows Evil?
Q: What about the common defense that evil exists due to human free will?
The discussion notes that free will is part of the equation but argues it does not fully solve the problem, highlighting the complexity of biblical theology like compatibilism where human responsibility and divine sovereignty coexist in ways that are not fully explainable.
Can We Trust a God Who Allows Evil?
Q: Does God's sovereignty conflict with His allowance of evil, and how is this reconciled?
The speaker explains that while the Bible presents difficult questions about sovereignty and evil, it ultimately points to trust in God's plan and his character, even when a full explanation is elusive, and suggests the cross as the ultimate demonstration of God's love and purpose amid suffering.
Can You Have Christian Ethics Without Christianity? A Response to Bart Ehrman
Q: What about Ehrman's claim that gospel contradictions and later dating undermine reliability?
Kruger responds that many apparent contradictions can be resolved when considering ancient historiography and the different purposes of gospel writers, highlighting evidence for early creedal forms and eyewitness testimony that anchor the gospels in historical memory.
Can You Have Christian Ethics Without Christianity? A Response to Bart Ehrman
Q: Can you have Christian ethics without Christianity?
Kruger argues that while non-Christians can adopt altruistic and moral behavior, the distinctive Christian ethics and the justification for those ethics are grounded in Christian claims, particularly the resurrection and the gospel witness, which cannot be fully separated from Christian faith.
The Stories Culture Tells Us
Q: What stories might we have stopped telling that contributed to virtue and meaning?
We need to explore stories that contribute to virtue in a biblical context, acknowledging that some narratives have fallen in different ways.
