Reclaiming Christianity is a book review podcast about God, faith and life. Each episode is centered around a book that John loves, and contains a reading of a section, a review and running commentary. John understands that Christianity is a mess, both corporately and personally, but believes it is worth reclaiming.

I am a high school teacher. I drive 30 minutes each way to teach at my rural high school in Georgia. I am also a progressive Christian struggling to find places to fit in in the Bible Belt and the South. John and Jennifer have been my companions back-and-forth to work, and I have engaged in every discussion they have had on the podcast (whether they heard me or not). This has been a lifesaver, and I have experienced so many moments where I realize I am not alone and I’m not crazy. :) Thank you f... more
Water down Christianity teachings.
I absolutely love this podcast and the main thing I love about it is that John is “just a guy”. He is real and raw and vulnerable with all of the things he has gone through with deconstruction. He feels like a friend already… And I love the books he chooses and his mild obsession with Michael and Lisa Gungor.
This podcast has helped save my faith in Christians, my faith in humanity, and my faith even in Christ honestly. To see the Bible and religious topics portrayed in and open and honest light, with a compassionate perspective, has been so enlightening after being raised in an evangelical system. The freedom to ask questions and explore and not be afraid has changed my world view. The guests are always amazing, well-researched, and every single episode does something good for my brain and my soul.
Full disclosure: I've been a panelist on this podcast several times as we've been discussing books we've chosen to read together in our theology book club. And I really enjoy doing that! But I also enjoy listening to the other episodes too. It's nice to think through different issues in Theology and faith from different perspectives.
