    There are far better podcasts about East Germany in German, but this is probably the best one in English. There is a tendency to trivialise what was in fact a second modern dictatorship on German soil though.

    The announcer constantly directs his guest into a funneled conversation focusing largely on the faults of East Germany. What you get instead is the typical US State Department, western textbook caricaturization of a socialist state (ie over simplified representation of the oppressive, stupid, people completely isolated, terror state).
