  • Political Establishment Swill

If you want to know what the media and political establishment think this is a decent listen. Don’t expect too many alternative views that are an affront to moneyed interests aside from the occasional visit from someone like Teri or Jalen.

Keep yappin’, I guess. It’s useful for us to know what you’re thinking

  • Enjoy the politics but wish the cast had more diversity

I really enjoy listening to the podcast but wish there were more female voices on the show. I’m not a super regular listener but I rarely hear female perspectives during each episode. You would think the Express News would have made this a priority.

Otherwise I enjoy the discussion and helps keep me up to date on what’s going in SA.

  • If you’re into local politics...

And you’re not already listening to this, you’re not actually into local politics.

This podcast has extensive coverage of San Antonio and Central Texas’ most pressing political stories. With Gilbert Garcia at the helm, and reoccurring regulars including reporters, editorial board members and miscellaneous untitled staff (ie. Brian Chasnoff — what does he actually do at the SAE-N??) the facts are accurate even if you don’t always agree with the POV.

Honestly the biggest mystery is how Texas ... more

  • SA Politics

This is a great addition to the Express News’s podcast lineup. Gilbert and his regular guests are reporters and columnists covering politics and stories of political import in the San Antonio and South Texas area. I really like that the conversational format allows them to go into greater depth and detail on their stories.

District 5's Teri Castillo asks what's the rush on Spurs deal? | ENside Politics
Q: What concerns do you have about the independence and transparency of the economic studies used to justify the project?
The concern is that the studies lack publicly shared data sources, which undermines trust in the projected billions of dollars in benefits and the overall rationale for the project.
District 5's Teri Castillo asks what's the rush on Spurs deal? | ENside Politics
Q: Would a separate bond proposition for the downtown improvements and the sports district help residents feel they have a choice about how their money is invested?
Yes, separating the items would allow residents to vote on park and neighborhood improvements independently from the Marvel infrastructure, giving clearer choices and potentially reducing perceived imbalance in funding priorities.
District 5's Teri Castillo asks what's the rush on Spurs deal? | ENside Politics
Q: What is the current timeline for a bond related to the Spurs arena and Project Marvel, and would voters have a chance to weigh in this year?
The timeline is uncertain, with concerns about whether there is enough information to justify a vote this year; the council wants full information and a public process before any ballot decision.
The lowdown on Bexar County's likely Spurs arena vote | ENside Politics
Q: Is there a plan for development around the grounds, like Willow Springs, that voters can expect to see tied to the ballot?
He suggests that while not all details are ready, there should be a concrete development framework to present to constituents by the time the election nears.
The lowdown on Bexar County's likely Spurs arena vote | ENside Politics
Q: First of all, have you gotten any indication from the Spurs how much they're willing to put in?
Rodriguez says he hasn't received a firm number yet, but that the next few weeks are critical to determine the Spurs' commitment and the rest of the financing puzzle.
