Love love love this podcast. Has become part of my weekly routine, Friday mornings on the way to work I listen to a pod, then that evening I watch the movie. It’s like sitting with my friends and chatting about movies, except you guys have the knowledge! Love what you do, please don’t stop!

Also, after listening to the Peak Heath episode (I am from the city where Heath grew up), you need to watch Two Hands if you haven’t already!

  • To Me, You Are Perfect

This rom com podcast is absolute perfect. Here we have two hosts who have a genuine love for the sub genre. Elena and Chelsea are amazing hosts with a great friendship and banter who aren’t afraid to have differing opinions. They look at these movies with such great depth but not being too overly critical. They try to find at least one thing positive. And in a time where society is always looking to tear down past films and their language and content, these hosts don’t let that deter their fond... more

  • Funny and nostalgic

I live this podcast! Always interesting perspectives. Like listening to friends chatting. So much fun to go back to these old films, and I’m loving rewatching as I go through the podcast.

  • Rom-Com 101

Thanks so much for making this show! My wife is a rom-com veteran and I’m newer to the genre so it’s been fun to go through the classics along with you. It’s become an important part of our Friday night routine and we usually end up just watching the movie you cover for good measure. We usually go off on our own tangents and have to pause though, so we admittedly don’t finish every episode. Maybe someday we’ll find out how She’s The Man ends...

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Four Weddings and a Funeral: The Movie That Made Hugh Grant (with Mark Vigeant)
Q: What is Mark's take on the film's handling of the wedding structure as a storytelling device?
Mark praises how the film uses multiple weddings to create a mosaic of characters and emotions, while noting the rhythm and timing are key to the comedy and warmth; he also remarks on how this setup supports a more inclusive, lived-in world.
She's The Man: Amanda Bynes Performance Art (with Monica Byrnes & Toria Sheffield)
Q: Why did you choose She's The Man for this Shakespeare collection, and what stands out about it today?
They discuss Amanda Bynes's fearless performance, the film's campy but energetic direction, and how the movie juxtaposes humor with moments of dated attitudes, making it both influential and problematic in its era.
It Happened One Night: Here Comes The Groom! (with Nick Duke)
Q: What about the title "It Happened One Night"? Does it reflect the film accurately?
Nick jokes that it should be called 'It Happened Over the Course of a Frigging Week' because the timeline of the events doesn't align with the title.
It Happened One Night: Here Comes The Groom! (with Nick Duke)
Q: What is your relationship to rom-coms as a genre? Is this a genre that you were in love with before you started having to listen to our episodes?
Nick shares that his introduction to rom-coms was through his dad, who was a fan of early rom-coms and musicals, and while he enjoys them, he wonders how he feels after listening to all the episodes on the genre.
The Apartment: Every Genre All At Once (with Dana Gould)
Q: Dana, what is your relationship to rom-coms? Do you have a favorite rom-com?
I don't really adhere to the genre much, but I do love 'Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter' which has a romantic comedy at its heart.
