  • Good facts, hit-or-miss analysis

Hosts do a great job identifying issues that matter in Nashville. But Former Council Member Jamie can’t see past his own preferences, so he’s sometimes right, often wrong, but never in doubt. Entertaining and informative as long as there’s someone to check Jamie when he turns into a caricature of himself.

It’s been over a month….the calendar has now flipped over to a new year. Jamie, you should have left your weird obsession with Aftyn in 2025. I thought this would have been done and over with after Holly took you to school; however, I was mistaken.

jamie is a crank that fits his feared “know-it-all political hobbyist” label better than anyone else. he has good takes on housing and metro legal but otherwise …..oh brother. it’s like listening to your deranged uncle who is marginally informed on nashville politics but doesn’t understand that his time of political relevance has passed him by and that he is out of touch with almost everything. even when he has good points the way he messages them is just so off-putting. These folks are a great listen for me, mom of a Nash daughter, on local happenings. City problems seem to be universal and love the intelligent brainstorming (and humor, because sometimes all you can do is laugh). PS Didn’t realize Jason Isbell was official mayor of Nashville. Maybe interview him next. - review from Nancy in Sarasota

Leadership and The Old Days (with Lamar Alexander)
Q: So I just want to start with the impetus to writing the book, your motivation, getting your stories out there, you wrote every word. Why do this right now?
Alexander explains the motivation was to share decades of public service, lessons learned, and behind-the-scenes experiences to inspire others to engage in public life with purpose and humor, emphasizing that getting elected to public office or working for someone who has been can help keep the republic from falling apart.
Freddie is Ready... for a re-election campaign
Q: Why are you pursuing a second term as mayor?
The mayor points to progress in crime reduction, education improvements, and city services, while highlighting ongoing work on transit expansion, housing, and affordability as core to Nashville's future and his leadership trajectory.
Nashville's Culture Drain with D. Patrick Rodgers and Betsy Phillips
Q: What happened with the Homes Not Hedge Funds act and why does it matter?
The bill aimed to cap ownership of rental properties by large corporate interests and expand affordable housing protections; it passed the Senate with bipartisan support but died in the House due to a lack of a second on the committee vote.
Nashville's Culture Drain with D. Patrick Rodgers and Betsy Phillips
Q: What are potential solutions to rebuild a vibrant independent music scene?
Increase affordable housing near venues, support independent venues through targeted policies and partnerships, and consider density/transit-friendly development to keep artists close to venues.
Nashville's Culture Drain with D. Patrick Rodgers and Betsy Phillips
Q: What is driving the culture drain for Nashville's music scene?
Affordability and housing costs push artists out of the urban core, while rising rents and venue consolidation under big corporate operators limit opportunities for smaller acts.
