  • Immigration Legislation

Can you tell us whether Stephen Miller approached TN legislators about authoring bills, or did they ask him for help? Either way, it sends chills through me.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Morgxn: 'Make It Out Alive' Singer, Songwriter and Advocate
Q: What inspired you to return home to Nashville and start Fruity Farm as a space for Pride and community?
The decision grew from a desire to build a refuge where people can be seen and loved. It connected to personal memories of feeling unsafe and finding strength through community, and it felt like a natural continuation of storytelling through music and activism.
Dr. Sekou Franklin: Executive Director, John Lewis Center for Social Justice
Q: Do you see a pendulum swinging toward or away from democratic resilience, and how should young people respond?
Democracy moves in cycles and is not linear; while it can swing backward, young people should stay resilient, build leadership capacity, and continue creating pathways for progress through creative activism and community collaboration.
Dr. Sekou Franklin: Executive Director, John Lewis Center for Social Justice
Q: What is one thing you would do if you had total freedom to do that one thing?
I would push for widespread nonviolent strategic action and training across communities, expanding opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to engage in policy impact work and leadership development.
Rev. Matt Steinhauer: Pastor and Advocate
Q: How did your path from music and insurance lead you to pastoral work and advocacy?
Matt describes a gradual calling that emerged through community involvement, family influence, and a sense of duty to serve others, ultimately leading to ordination in 2011 and a focus on education, inclusion, and public policy.
Michael Shane Neal: Portrait Artist
Q: How did you get the nerve or opportunity to connect with Ray Kinstler, and what impact did that mentorship have on your career?
The path began with a friend's introduction and a serendipitous chance to meet Kinstler in New York after he invited me to bring work. His feedback, critiques, and shared standards for integrity and storytelling through portraiture reshaped my technique, career management, and belief in pursuing ambitious subjects, including presidents and public figures.
