Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Visible Church | WCF 25.2
Q: So explain what that means. And then just as importantly, what does it not mean?
The statement means that the visible church is the ordinary place where God saves and sustains people through preaching, sacraments, and prayer. It does not mean God cannot save outside the church, since he may do so in extraordinary circumstances.
The Visible Church | WCF 25.2
Q: So maybe to begin, what's the difference, and why does the Confession insist on talking about both the Visible and Invisible Church?
The invisible church is the full number of the elect, known only to God, while the visible church consists of people who publicly profess faith and gather in Christ's name with their children. The invisible church exists within the visible church, which is why the visible church matters without making every member necessarily saved.
Connecting with LMPC's Youth Ministry: Debbie Young
Q: If you had to say, what do you just most enjoy about working with high school girls?
Young says she most appreciates their transparency and watching their lives and spiritual questions develop over time. She also enjoys supporting them beyond small group by showing up at their activities.
Connecting with LMPC's Youth Ministry: Debbie Young
Q: What do you most enjoy about working with high school girls and the stage of life they're in?
Young values the girls' openness and the opportunity to witness their spiritual growth over several years. She also appreciates their enthusiasm when adults attend their plays or sporting events.
Connecting with LMPC's Youth Ministry: Eleanor Caines
Q: What would you say to a college student wanting to plug into youth ministry while balancing studies?
Her advice centers on acknowledging limits, coordinating schedules with the ministry leaders, and finding a practical way to serve—whether through events, small groups, or partial involvement—so that serving remains sustainable and impactful.
