  • Original, Valuable, Flawed

Once or twice a month I can expect this podcast to teach me something earth-shattering that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. One can’t go wrong with a project led by David Dayen. It’s a 4-star podcast because the introduction is clunky, with bad music, and way too long, plus co-host Matt Stoller is so obsessed with himself he often has to make his own supposed humor and intelligence the feature of the show, rather than the content of Organized Money being front and center. The podcast seem... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Big Oil And Big Plastic Are One And The Same
Q: What are the main ingredients of plastics and where do they come from?
Most plastics derive from oil and gas, with naptha and ethane as central feedstocks; the process is highly energy intensive and tied to petrochemical plants near refineries.
How AIPAC Tries to Dominate the Business of Politics
Q: What changes would you like to see in election financing going forward?
Reforms that increase transparency, limit the influence of shell PACs, and ensure donors cannot hide behind opaque entities, along with exploring public financing options to reduce the sheer power of big money in primaries and general elections.
How AIPAC Tries to Dominate the Business of Politics
Q: Did this money actually influence voter behavior in your district?
Yes, to some extent it reshaped perceptions, particularly through messaging about money sources and the policy demands associated with those donors, which helped explain the stakes of the race and the positions we advocated.
How AIPAC Tries to Dominate the Business of Politics
Q: What strategies did you use to counter the influx of money from groups like AIPAC, crypto, and AI activists in your race?
We kept the money a focal point by consistently tying ads to AIPAC and Trump donors, explaining the source of funds, and emphasizing the specific policy demands those donors were pushing, such as blanket military aid to Israel, while presenting our own positions clearly and openly to build trust with voters.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta is Not Done with Ticketmaster
Q: How can industry insiders assist your investigations without fear of retaliation?
We encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward; information from people in the industry is critical for understanding impacts on prices, wages, competition, and choice, and the office has channels to receive tips and evidence.
