  • Original, Valuable, Flawed

Once or twice a month I can expect this podcast to teach me something earth-shattering that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. One can’t go wrong with a project led by David Dayen. It’s a 4-star podcast because the introduction is clunky, with bad music, and way too long, plus co-host Matt Stoller is so obsessed with himself he often has to make his own supposed humor and intelligence the feature of the show, rather than the content of Organized Money being front and center. The podcast seem... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta is Not Done with Ticketmaster
Q: How can industry insiders assist your investigations without fear of retaliation?
We encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward; information from people in the industry is critical for understanding impacts on prices, wages, competition, and choice, and the office has channels to receive tips and evidence.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta is Not Done with Ticketmaster
Q: What makes the Nexstar-Tegna merger case a priority, and what's the status of that injunction?
The merger would push market share across multiple markets well over typical thresholds, reducing viewpoints and increasing leverage against distributors; we filed for a temporary restraining order to prevent finalization, and the case is ongoing with the court considering our motion.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta is Not Done with Ticketmaster
Q: With the DOJ stepping back, how do you justify the need for state-level action in antitrust today?
States provide independent, boots-on-the-ground enforcement with local accountability; we mobilize substantial resources, work with outside counsel when needed, and pursue mergers and practices that harm consumers and workers, while modernizing laws to fit today's digital economy.
The Business Of Betting On Murder with Sen. Chris Murphy
Q: How does this relate to the Iran war and supply chains?
The discussion connects prediction markets to real-world decisions about war and energy, arguing that monetary bets on such outcomes can distort policy, while also highlighting the need for domestic supply chain resilience and strategic minerals to reduce reliance on foreign adversaries.
The Business Of Betting On Murder with Sen. Chris Murphy
Q: What historical example informs this debate?
The historical example cited is the Pentagon's Policy Analysis Market from the early 2000s, which attempted to predict terrorist events and assassinations but was shut down amid concerns about security and ethics.
