  • Huh?

Carol Zimmer’s questions reminds me the of the clips of Barbara Walter’s most tone deaf interviews.

  • Now What?

    Years of pleasure.

When Carole Zimmer started these pod casts I spent a delightful, engaging, wonderful 40 minutes with Carole interviewing Gloria Steinem. They talked with insight and humor about feminism, aging, politics, relationships and of course, shopping. I couldn’t wait until the next one came out.

Now I think she is almost at her 100th podcast. She is such a fabulous, deep, emotionally connected and humorous interviewer and she has talked to so many famous, interesting people through ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A Conversation With Andrew Yang
Q: What motivated you to run for president in 2019 despite not having prior elected office experience?
I was alarmed by how automation and the AI era would reshape jobs and livelihoods, and I believed a bold policy like universal basic income could be part of a practical, humane solution. When others weren't focusing on these long-term forces, I decided to bring the conversation to the national stage and show that we could address those realities.
A Conversation with Paul Krugman
Q: Why did you leave The New York Times and start newsletters on Substack?
Krugman describes a combination of heavy editorial intervention and a desire for greater, more technical charts and analysis, finding Substack provides more ownership, freedom, and reach than traditional newspaper columns.
A Conversation with Paul Krugman
Q: Tell me what you think about tariffs and their impact on the economy.
Krugman explains that tariffs are economically harmful to consumers, are passed through as higher prices, and that most economists agree they ultimately hurt the purchasing power of Americans, with costs borne by consumers rather than foreign producers.
A Conversation With Gina Gershon
Q: Well, explain to us what Alpha Pussy means to you.
Alpha Pussy represents standing in one's truth, using personal power to handle toxic situations, and reclaiming autonomy in environments that try to disempower you; it's about turning perceived weaknesses into strengths through focused presence and confidence.
A Conversation With Jeanette Winterson
Q: How do you view technology and AI in relation to memory and identity?
She acknowledges both the benefits and risks, viewing AI as a tool that can augment human capacities but warning that outcomes depend on who controls it and how it's used to shape identities.
