  • Disappointed

Have always been a fan of Debbie. However, although Mulkey’s record is HOF, there currently are any number of women head coaches who are impacting the womens’ game and impacting the development of their young players far greater than Mulkey. Joni Taylor, Staley, VanDerveer, and Ivey come to mind. Shine the light Debbie!

  • Great behind the scenes stories

Since 2018, my sister, husband and I are all new PAC-12 WBB fans (thanks to Adia Barnes and her talented Wildcats). I also started following WNBA games. This podcast has such interesting guests and as a new fan, I learn a lot about the sport in general. Excellent job highlighting all of the dedicated women (and men) who have paved the way so this sport continues to get the recognition and attention it DESERVES!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

JR Payne, Colorado WBB
Q: Can you talk about the atmosphere and impact of the LED glass court and how you'll prep your team for such a unique playing surface?
Payne describes the court as visually impressive but functionally similar to a standard court, with practice in Orlando helping players adapt to the lighting and setup, while maintaining focus on fundamentals.
JR Payne, Colorado WBB
Q: How do you approach games against familiar opponents who you might see again in the tournament?
She explains they review what worked and didn't work, keep some additional tactics in their pocket, and anticipate adjustments their opponents will make, while staying true to their own strengths like rebounding and defense.
JR Payne, Colorado WBB
Q: What is it going to be like playing in the Big 12 tournament this year when you know you have a legitimate chance to win it?
Payne emphasizes a veteran group with March-tested poise, the importance of staying present one day at a time, and balancing emotional energy with focused execution to pursue a deep run in the tournament.
Jan Jensen, Iowa WBB
Q: Tell us about that, your second year of making adjustments in game and how that's going?
It's almost like putting on a more comfortable sweatshirt. The first year, I got used to everything, and now in my second year, I have a reference point from last year's experiences.
Gayle Fulks, Davidson WBB
Q: How have you managed the adversity with your team?
We've prioritized mental health and provided resources, recognizing that processing emotions is more important than basketball at times.
