  • You lost me on “get your child protection if they’re having sex”

If your child chooses to have sex, despite you telling that it’s God-honoring to wait till marriage, your answer is to make sure they use protection and take them to the OB? Ok, I’m done with this podcast. What terrible advice.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kristina Fields, LMFT: The “iPad Kid” Trend and Reducing Screen Time
Q: So when we say iPad kid, how would you define that?
A kid who has their own iPad and ongoing, unsupervised access, which tends to shift how they default to screen time; the goal is to keep screen use intentional rather than a default habit.
Tall Cop: Kratom, 7-OH, and Hidden Gas Station Drugs
Q: What should parents look for in stores or gas stations?
Look for Kratom and Kava products sold under brand names rather than explicit Kratom labeling, check for labeling terms like Crayton or Mitrogenene, and be aware of products near the counter that are easy for teens to access; always verify ingredients and be cautious of synthetic forms.
NCMEC: The Hidden Online Threat Targeting Kids
Q: CSAM stands for what, and why is it important for parents to understand this term?
CSAM stands for Child Sexual Abuse Material, and recognizing this term helps parents connect what their kids may encounter online with the formal terminology used by experts, which is important for clear reporting and understanding the seriousness of the issue.
Jen Oshman: Are Women Attending Church Less Than Men?
Q: What is the significance of the word 'helper' in relation to women?
Oshman explains that the Hebrew word 'Ezer,' used to describe women, indicates strength and dignity, as it is also used for God, highlighting the importance of women's roles.
Jen Oshman: Are Women Attending Church Less Than Men?
Q: Why do you think women are attending church less frequently than men?
Oshman suggests a mix of societal pressures, political polarization, and misconceptions about women's roles in the church contribute to the decline of women's church attendance.
