  • Audio is a disaster but content is great- when you can hear it

Love this podcast- when I can hear it. Their audio is all over the place and it makes it super hard to listen to. I find myself turning the volume up and down every 10 seconds which is really not sustainable. There are some episodes where I can’t even hear one or both of the speakers on maximum volume. It’s too bad really because the content is amazing

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside Rett syndrome with Prof. Nicoletta Landsberger
Q: Can we discuss that a little bit as well?
We wanted to explore NPCs for therapy because they can communicate with the diseased brain and potentially help repair damage or alter disease progression.
Inside Rett syndrome with Prof. Nicoletta Landsberger
Q: Could you tell us a little bit about what motivated that study, how you chose that mouse model, and some of the key findings of that work?
The motivation stemmed from previous studies showing different models for Rett syndrome, recognizing the necessity for better models and biomarkers for preclinical studies.
Genetic risk factors for Alzheimer's disease with Prof. Julie Williams
Q: Was it a surprise to become an immunologist while studying Alzheimer's disease?
Yes, it was a surprise because the data showed a shift in focus from the previously established narrative surrounding the amyloid plaques.
Genetic risk factors for Alzheimer's disease with Prof. Julie Williams
Q: What made these findings so significant at the time?
The collaboration resulted in identifying four new susceptibility genes for Alzheimer's disease after 16 years of extensive research.
Genetic Causes of ALS/FTD with Prof. Isaacs
Q: What does this actually mean for clinical treatment of these disorders in the future?
What we did in that study is we tested the efficacy of this approach in cell models and in patient neurons and also in two different mouse models.
