  • So useful for training the ear!

I have been listening to CBF almost since its beginning and continue to revisit certain seasons to reinforce my listening skills and to build my French vocabulary. I first learned French in high school and college, so I wasn’t a brand new learner, but I picked up with CBF decades later and it helped me to rebuild my skills. I have especially enjoyed learning idioms to sound more like a native speaker. A recent episode gave a guide to the different levels available in the catalog, and I’m current... more

  • Spelling error

Hi. As I was listening to season 3 episode 6, it seems there a few spelling errors when you spelled the irregular stem for Tenir and Venir. As I was listening, you must have missed the letter E for both verbs. As a listener, I had to listen to it many times and chrck with the conjugators to confirm what I heard. But overall, I enjoy this podcast.

  • The instructors really know how to teach (it’s hard to teach complete beginners!), and I’m saying this as a former instructor myself who have received lots of training. New words and other knowledge build up on each other gradually, and the transition from one topic to another is smooth. The instructors also correct our pronunciation, which is hard to find in most systematic self-learning materials. There is also a lot of repetition so I don’t need to replay the recordings too many times manuall... more

  • I love the format as a complete beginner. Usually I start learning a language by listening to and speaking in it, and after some time, I’ll catch up with the reading and writing. Now I can fill my breakfast time with this program, for free! The instructors seem to be professional. New words and other knowledge build up on each other gradually in a cohesive and smooth manner.
