  • Bring back the teaching!

Huge fan of continuum. I still think it’s the best print for high-yield review of neurology. Often very thought out and helpful to every day clinical practice. Unfortunately the evolution of continuum podcast has become less teaching. Not all of the episodes but more than listeners care for. Bring back the life long learning, we are here to soak it up!

  • Not as informative

The previous format was much more informative, it had nice bits of advice and pearls regarding differential diagnosis and treatment… it resembled more and complimented the written article.

The new format sounds more like an informal and social interaction, not so much clinically relevant information.

  • No longer useful

Continuum Audio no longer has useful clinical information. I used to learn things from continuum audio but now the interviews focus on the interviewee and don’t contain any clinical content

  • Enjoy the podcasts!

The podcasts make it much easier to access Continuum Audio, but sometimes the podcasts come across with more of an infomercial quality than the medical content they used to have. I think it’s important to advertise the journal, but to me, as a long time subscriber, the new podcasts come across as more of an advertisement.

  • Easier to access but limited helpful information

While much easier to access compare to Audio digest app, the podcast has only limited helpful information about the topics discussed. This might be a useful add on to the audio digest app, but definitely shouldn’t be a replacement imo

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

June 2026 Cerebrovascular Disease Issue With Dr. Cheryl Bushnell
Q: What is the next big thing on the horizon in stroke care?
Antithrombotics in the form of Factor XI inhibitors could expand the therapeutic toolbox for patients without atrial fibrillation or other anticoagulation needs, potentially changing prevention and treatment paradigms once approved.
June 2026 Cerebrovascular Disease Issue With Dr. Cheryl Bushnell
Q: What do you think is the biggest practice gap in the care of patients with stroke or cerebrovascular disease?
The biggest gap is transitions of care and access to follow-up in a specialty clinic after discharge, plus the need to integrate prevention and brain health consistently into long-term management.
Stroke Prevention With Dr. Mitchell S.V. Elkind
Q: What is your view on monitoring for atrial fibrillation after a stroke?
Guidelines support some cardiac monitoring after an unexplained stroke, but the optimal duration and methods are under investigation. New technologies like AI-assisted ECG interpretation may help predict AFib risk earlier, refining who should receive anticoagulation.
Stroke Prevention With Dr. Mitchell S.V. Elkind
Q: What has changed in the last couple of years regarding stroke prevention?
There has been a greater emphasis on primordial and primary prevention through social determinants of health, expanded use of prevention tools like Life's Essential 8 and Prevent, and a deeper appreciation for how cardiovascular risk factors influence brain health beyond preventing a second stroke.
Palliative Care in Multiple Sclerosis With Drs. Penelope Smyth and Janis M. Miyasaki
Q: How do early-stage strategies differ from mid-stage strategies in MS palliative care?
Early strategies prioritize holistic support and communication to address fears after diagnosis, while mid-stage emphasizes targeted symptom management, quality of life improvements, and more active use of patient-reported outcomes to tailor care.
