Revolutionizing ALS Treatment: The Tofersen Breakthrough
Q: What do you think the implications are for patients that have sporadic ALS?
We need to develop therapeutics that target shared downstream mechanisms in ALS, which could benefit a broader range of patients.
Revolutionizing ALS Treatment: The Tofersen Breakthrough
Q: Can you give us a story? Like, maybe what's the most impressive example you've seen of a patient who's improving after starting Tofersen?
One patient I took care of had an SOD1 mutation and showed remarkable recovery in strength after entering the open-label study.
Frontotemporal Dementia Differential Diagnosis in Clinical Practice
Q: Can you walk us through the findings related to psychiatric history and help our listeners understand how to consider that in the evaluation of patients with frontal network impairments?
Patients with a long history of psychiatric disease are more likely to be diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. However, some with behavioral variant FTD may also have psychiatric histories, complicating diagnosis.
Frontotemporal Dementia Differential Diagnosis in Clinical Practice
Q: Can you give us a brief overview of the clinic in terms of catchment area? What sorts of referrals typically make it to a quaternary referral center there?
The clinic is based in Melbourne, covering a population of about 5.3 million people. It's a statewide and national referral service for young onset dementias and atypical dementias.
Investigating Whether Dissemination in Time Is Essential to Diagnose Relapsing MS
Q: What are the next steps for this project?
The goal is to inform revisions to the McDonald criteria anticipated in 2025 and to explore the feasibility of diagnosing MS based on dissemination in space alone in older and special populations.
