  • Incredible content but the audio is so bad I can't listen to it. The volumes of the host and the guests are drastically different combined with the accents it's just a hard listen on top of the audio quality being generally poor from the guest.

  • Fantastic insights

So many lessons to learn from with any guest that is on the show, I’ve genuinely learned at least one thing from each episode I’ve listened to.

Lots of lessons and insights that I’ve used with my own players since listening to the podcast, I would recommend it to any coach that’s looking to further their development no matter what step on the ladder you are.

The Mental Side of Coaching Starts on the Grass with Dan Abrahams
Q: What is the best place to start on the grass for integrating mental skills into coaching?
Use session design that embeds mental skills into actual drills and games, starting with easy-to-implement techniques like squashing ants and game face, and ensure activities reflect the game closely.
The Mental Side of Coaching Starts on the Grass with Dan Abrahams
Q: How do you define the line between competitive aggression and going over the top in training?
Define competitiveness through attention, intensity, and intent, looking for behavioral indicators of engagement and readiness rather than just forceful behavior; encourage purposeful, proactive energy.
The Mental Side of Coaching Starts on the Grass with Dan Abrahams
Q: If you could change one thing about how youth sport currently approaches mental performance, what would it be?
Emphasize practical, grass-based application so players and coaches use mental skills during real training and play, not just in theory; focus on making the narrative on grass as the primary venue for psychology.
Football Is Unpredictable—But Are We Preparing Players for It? | Steven Caulker
Q: What do you think is missing from the Tottenham environment that could have set you up better for the long term?
The key missing element was how to deal with setbacks and pressure; more mental resilience training and a robust, relatable support system rather than solely focusing on football technique or results.
Why Players Stop Improving | Saul Isaksson-Hurst on Individual Development
Q: Why do players plateau despite hard work, and how can this be addressed?
Plateaus occur due to overemphasis on quantity over quality, insufficient deliberate practice, and lack of integrated, game-relevant coaching; addressing it requires purposeful practice, better coaching guidance, and alignment across the club.
