Reviews

4.8 out of 5 stars from 13 ratings
  • The Best Teacher and the Best Organized Teacher on the internet

Dr. Russell is an incredibly good teacher. His simulations and illustrations are so much superior to illustrations and writing and drawing on a chalkboard. It is obvious that he puts extraordinary time and effort into preparation. I hope his other students appreciate it as much as I do.

020626 Chemistry 222 Video Lecture
Q: How are you getting that total energy number?
To find the total energy, add the energy values calculated for melting, heating, and vaporization together.
020626 Chemistry 222 Video Lecture
Q: How do you calculate those delta Hs, Dr. Russell?
The heat of vaporization can be calculated using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, which involves plotting the natural log of vapor pressure against the inverse of temperature to find the slope.
012126 Chemistry 222 Video Lecture
Q: Is calories an example of specific heat capacity?
Calories are a type of energy unit like joules, but joules will be used in this class because calories can get mixed up.
011626 Chemistry 222 Video Lecture
Q: If for the diamonds, if it's so slow, how are we able to even detect that diamond?
There's a large number of atoms in diamond, so while changes are slow, they can be detected over a long time.
011626 Chemistry 222 Video Lecture
Q: Why is that the case, Dr. Russell?
Heavier masses go slower than lighter masses due to kinetic energy considerations.
