Occasionally, I search “Melungeon” to see if there’s anything new out there. I did today and found this podcast. I have way more questions than answers, with family (now all gone) that either refused to discuss family history at all or perpetuated myths about a Cherokee great grandmother. Very excited to find this! (Shumake/Chavis/Evans)
I didn’t want this podcast to end. As someone entirely new to this branch of history that I’m suddenly part of, it was like sitting in a room of people just as much in wonder as me, but with all of the research to help me start to understand where I come from and how I finally fit in.
GREAT job. I can’t wait for more.
Wonderful podcast about the history, and genealogy of the Melungeon people.
This is a much needed podcast to help people understand the history and value of Melungeon people past and present!
