子夏问孝。子曰：“色难。有事，弟子服其劳；有酒食，先生馔，曾是以为孝乎？”
它的白话文是这样的。子夏也来请教什么是孝。孔子说：“子女保持和悦的脸色是最难的。有事要做时，年轻人代劳；有酒菜食物时，年长的人吃喝。难道这样就可以算是孝了吗？”
