  • Great for librarians & music lovers

As an academic librarian, this is my favorite library podcast. I learn something new nearly every week, I love the guests they choose for the show, and the entire crew is great. As a music lover, I appreciate the broad range of rock featured on the show--from oldies to contemporary bands. I love that the playlist is thematic and often assigned Library of Congress call numbers (how else would academic librarians identify groups of songs?). This show is an absolute joy to listen to. <3

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 661: Bad Moon Rising
Q: Can you tell us what does that include? And what is the connection for this to be a STEM institution like tech?
These I would consider part of our rare books collection because most of them are coming from the early modern period.
Episode 660: Roles and Identities
Q: How have you reflected upon your own role, identity, position after doing this research?
I didn't realize how much this research would impact my own professional identity; it made me realize that being a librarian is about whether you identify as one or not.
Episode 660: Roles and Identities
Q: Can you explain how you defined roles and identities while doing this research?
I defined position as what you're doing daily, roles as how you define yourself in relation to others, and professional identity as who you are professionally that transcends your current job.
Episode 658: Down in the Basement
Q: How do folks interact with items retrieved from the basement in the reading room?
The items are typically allowed to acclimate before being brought into the reading room for use by patrons.
Episode 658: Down in the Basement
Q: Under what circumstances would you, as a reference archivist, find yourself down in the Basement Stacks?
I would go retrieve materials from down there for researchers when they request archival materials.
