  • Thank you

I’ve been an addict my entire adult life. I have gone through opiate withdrawal and swore I would never do that again. I am 3 years off alcohol, but somewhere around 7 months sober, I found 7-OH. I am a chronic pain patient with 2 back surgeries under my belt. The pain relief was so effective, I became dependent on that one advantage at first. 8 months of use landed me in a psych hospital for hallucinations and suicidal ideations. I got clean 2.11.2025. Three months later was my relapse. I firml... more

E212 Trevor
Q: What was the pivotal moment that pushed you toward seeking help?
Honesty with my wife and recognizing the depth of my denial led me to seek professional help, ultimately moving from films to Suboxone and engaging in structured recovery.
E213 J. Paul
Q: What made you decide to quit Kratom and how did you approach the quitting process?
After years of escalating use and a full reliance that included 12- to 15 bottles daily, I attempted to quit cold turkey and then taper, but suffered severe withdrawal symptoms; a workplace incident prompted me to seek medical leave and pursue Suboxone-assisted recovery, followed by outpatient rehab and ongoing tapering.
E213 J. Paul
Q: How did you first find out about Kratom, and what was that experience like when you discovered it?
I learned about Kratom when my older brother advised against it after a brief discussion; I then tried it at a gas station after seeing ads and was drawn in by Reddit discussions about mood and pain relief, which led to experimenting with pills and later tonics.
E210 Ron
Q: What is your top tip for someone that's getting ready to quit Kratom?
Tell somebody you're quitting and commit to a plan with that person; use meetings and support networks early on to fill the void and keep you accountable, then build a steady routine and stay away from triggers.
E205 Hans
Q: What tools do you use in your recovery now?
He emphasizes a mix of 12-step involvement, having a sponsor, staying connected with a sober brotherhood, structured routines (sleep, workouts, mindfulness), and practices like meditation and gratitude journaling.
