Dopey Podcast is the world’s greatest podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. Chris and I were two IV heroin addicts who loved to talk about all the coke we smoked, snorted and shot, all the pills we ate, smoked, all the weed we smoked and ate, all the booze we consumed and all the consequences we suffered. After making the show for 2 and a half years, Chris tragically relapsed and died from a ... more

Love this podcast Dave. I’m 4.5 years clean after almost 20 years using old school H and fentanyl out of necessity my last 2 years of using. I’ve been listening since I had about 6 months clean. Just a heads up, your decision to play Lou Reed on the last podcast is amazing bc velvet underground was my soundtrack of choice for booting up. However, using copyrighted music will get your episodes demonetized. Just a heads up. Keep doing God’s work!!!!
Boring. You have to hear the nitty-gritty in order to appreciate the miracle. He just provided a litany of things your listeners in recovery have heard 1 million times- yawn
.
I first listened to dopey when you were interviewing Ingrid Casares I was blown away by the podcast and I was still able to laugh. I appreciate the fine line between the serious subject matter and the humor that really helps people feel less alone. Loved your interview with Ditty and Sara Clark. Keep up the great work and toodles for Chris.
I found this podcast from the Billy Strings interview and at the time I was deep in the depths of my opiate addiction. I am now 2 months clean from all substances and so thankful for the companionship of Chris and Dave during my rehab stint. I’ll write an email soon and TOOOODLEES for Chris!
Only reason I will give 4 is cause you hate Canadians lol !!! I’m from Canada and have a real good story for ya!

A candid, unflinching look at drugs, addiction, recovery, and the messier sides of human behavior, blending brutal honesty with humor. Episodes feature first-person recovery stories, interviews with celebrities and everyday survivors, and discussions on harm reduction, trauma, and treatment. The show's appeal lies in its raw storytelling, long-form conversations, and a community atmosphere that embraces honesty, accountability, and hope, often balancing dark topics with warmth and wit. Notable is the willingness to tackle controversial subjects and to spotlight diverse pathways to recovery while maintaining a relatable, conversational vibe.
