Dopey Podcast is the world’s greatest podcast on drugs, addiction and dumb shit. Chris and I were two IV heroin addicts who loved to talk about all the coke we smoked, snorted and shot, all the pills we ate, smoked, all the weed we smoked and ate, all the booze we consumed and all the consequences we suffered. After making the show for 2 and a half years, Chris tragically relapsed and died from a ... more

  • Life Changing

I found this podcast from the Billy Strings interview and at the time I was deep in the depths of my opiate addiction. I am now 2 months clean from all substances and so thankful for the companionship of Chris and Dave during my rehab stint. I’ll write an email soon and TOOOODLEES for Chris!

  • Best comedy podcast

I started listening about 3 months ago and I’m 80 episodes in. I can safely say Dave and Chris are like brothers now. My heart breaks in advance knowing that Chris’s last episode will inevitably come but I give major kudos to Dave on continuing the work. The format (or lack there of ) is brilliant and the banter never gets old. Cathartic abusive waitering in podcast form. Don’t change a thing but keep keeping on. Shout out to thee entire dopey nation!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dopey 581: Zoe Hansen; Heroin, Sex Work, Shooting Speedballs, The Chelsea Hotel & Dying in Nancy Spungen’s Bed
Q: Where did you grow up and how did that shape your early exposure to drugs and nightlife?
Zoe describes growing up in Chelsea, London, with a heavy pull toward punk, drugs, and the nightlife that followed, which laid the groundwork for her later drug use and work in the sex industry.
90's Wild Child! Getting Wasted with Courtney Love, Plant Medicine, Marrying into Duran Duran & The Strokes, and Getting Sober Young with Amanda de Cadenet
Q: What was it like growing up in England and becoming the Wild Child Amanda de Cadenet?
Amanda describes a transformative youth in 90s London, where fame, music, and a culture of excess intersected with her early exploration of drugs and identity, eventually leading to a path toward recovery and commitment to helping others.
Confessions of A Crystal Meth Dealer Replay - Ditty Show on Dopey's Greatest Hits - with Wic!
Q: What was the turning point that finally pushed you toward recovery?
A combination of family tragedies, relentless cycles of relapse, and the dawning realization that a real, sustained recovery required more than willpower—namely, a committed sponsor, consistent meetings, and stepping into a life focused on service and stability.
Behind the Dopey Red Hot Chili Peppers pt. 2 - Ben Feldman - Director of 'Rise of the Chili Peppers' Heroin, OD, Flea, Hillel
Q: How did you approach interviewing Anthony and Flea, given their fame and privacy?
I pitched them on a human-centered story about friendship and growth from high school through adulthood, and emphasized that the film would honor their history rather than sensationalize it. They came to the process with openness and offered honest, vulnerable material after meeting in person and feeling respected.
Behind the Dopey Red Hot Chili Peppers pt. 2 - Ben Feldman - Director of 'Rise of the Chili Peppers' Heroin, OD, Flea, Hillel
Q: How did you know Hillel was a prolific journaler?
I learned it from the journals that were published by his brother, which showed a consistent and deep personal record. This suggested there was a rich inner life to draw from, making Hillel feel like a living presence in the film.
