How I Lost My Leg, Started Selling Carfentanil & Got Addicted to Percs | Ep 194
Q: Can you tell us about the turning point that led you to pursue recovery work?
After a series of life-altering events, including a near-fatal shooting and a long hospitalization, I realized I needed to redirect my life. I found purpose in peer support and CDCA work, which gave me a way to give back and help others avoid the same pitfalls.
My Twin Brother & I Were Born Addicted to Crack, Abused, and Human Trafficked | Ep 193
Q: What role did recovery programs and sponsorship play in your journey?
Recovery programs and a dedicated sponsor gave me structure, accountability, and a path to practice new skills. The one-on-one support helped me process trauma, stay away from old environments, and eventually start sponsoring others.
My Twin Brother & I Were Born Addicted to Crack, Abused, and Human Trafficked | Ep 193
Q: How did the cycle of addiction begin and evolve for you?
My use started with experimentation in my late teens, progressing from cannabis to cocaine, then crack, often driven by a lack of guidance and the lure of relief from trauma. It became a full-time coping mechanism that perpetuated the trauma rather than alleviating it.
My Twin Brother & I Were Born Addicted to Crack, Abused, and Human Trafficked | Ep 193
Q: What were some of the early experiences that shaped your view of safety and trust?
Early on I lived in environments where care was inconsistent or harmful, which taught me to look for safety in chaotic places and to rely on coping strategies like acting out. It took many years and a lot of therapy to rebuild trust in adults and in myself.
How I Survived Meth Addiction & Life-Threatening Alcohol Withdrawal | Ep 190
Q: What was the turning point that pushed you toward rehab?
A near-fatal fentanyl incident and the realization that continued drug use would likely kill him, followed by a decision to seek detox and rehab, supported by AA/12-step sponsorship.
