  • Something different

I have no idea how I came across this podcast. I don't know that I've ever known anyone who spent time in prison. But I've always believed they should be treated with dignity and respect and rehabilitated if possible. Thank you so much for bringing out the humanity in people who have in prison. The stories are fascinating and I hope they encourage people still in prison and people who are now their life on the outside.

  • Love the REAL stories

Long time listener here. I listen to nearly every episode from beginning to end, and am always intrigued. While I do want the best for Ian and Matt on this podcast, the newer episodes with the celebrity guests aren’t doing it for me. I’m sure it brings a lot of new listeners in which is great and all, but try not to forget about us listeners that are here for the real stories from the real ones that we’re down, not for these people that claim to pay their way through and “run” their hard time 🙄... more

Q: What was the LAPD reputation like when you joined, and how did you view it entering the force?

Q: How did the team decide to pursue murder without a body?
They evaluated the blood spatter evidence, garage scene details, and subsequent DNA results, which, when combined with the suspect's movements and timeline, created probable cause strong enough to pursue charges.
I Was a First Responder for 40 Years — Here's the Calls That Never Leave You | Bernie Meehan
Q: What was the hardest adjustment for you over the years?
The biggest change was the emphasis on mental health and the adoption of trauma-informed care, plus the shift from purely response-based work to a more holistic approach that includes debriefings, counseling, and peer support for responders.
