My name is Matthew B. Cox and I’m a con man. I completed a lengthy prison sentence for a variety of bank fraud related charges, and I’m 100 percent guilty of them all. I heard an outrageous amount of stories. Some intrigued me and some didn’t. I tend to focus on the more unique, clever, and bizarre true crime stories.

  • Good podcast

Cox is total scumbag making it difficult for normal people to get a mortgage. I don’t understand the criminal mindset. The podcast is great. But being a criminal is not badge of honor.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Accountant Exposes the Cost of Greed After Stealing Millions From The IRS
Q: What was the turning point that led you to plead guilty rather than go to trial?
Sean describes a combination of the evidence shown by the attorney, the realization that he wouldn't win in court, and the leverage the government had via video and records, which convinced him it was wiser to plead and limit further damage.
Accountant Exposes the Cost of Greed After Stealing Millions From The IRS
Q: How did you decide to increase refunds for clients, and what was your thinking behind pushing those figures?
Sean explains that his reputation for getting larger refunds created a self-reinforcing cycle; clients asked for more, and he rationalized that the numbers were still 'within reach' while he kept increasing his fee, leading to a risky expansion of fraud.
Inside the Pill Mill Scheme That Printed Millions
Q: How did the pill mill business start to scale, and what were the initial driving forces behind it?
The operation grew from small shipments and quick profits into a multi-location network by exploiting doctors' clinics, leveraging the demand for pain medications, and expanding to larger markets, including out-of-state patients and cross-border operations, while using complex logistics to keep profits high and risks manageable.
Cartel Smuggler Turned Informant | The Rise and Fall of Dr. Hal Bradley
Q: What led you to cooperate with federal authorities after years of running loads for the cartels?
Facing unrelenting pressure, imminent danger to himself and his family, and a realization that continuing the life would likely be fatal, he chose to work with the DOJ to dismantle networks and protect his people, leveraging a strong attorney and the promise of a more survivable path.
Myron Gaines Reacts to the JFK Files and His Time in Federal Service
Q: Do you think the JFK files will be declassified, and what might come out?
He argues there are deep geopolitical incentives to suppress certain findings, particularly around Israel, and believes declassification could reveal sensitive global power dynamics.
