  • Great show great topic!

So good to talk to a soul sister! I could have talked to Kandas forever. She asked great questions that hopefully provided answers to other women starting over at forty or contemplating taking a chance on themselves in business. I would have loved to have people like Kandas cheering me on when I felt like I was the only person who believed in me. We "mature" ladies need to stick together, and Gratitude Geek podcast is a great place to land. Today I was "seen."

Overcome Stage Fright | Mahlena-Rae Johnson
Q: What practical steps can someone take to prepare for a speech?
Develop a plan before, during, and after the presentation; practice with trusted people, record yourself, and use tools like a 30-second video to refine your message and delivery.
Overcome Stage Fright | Mahlena-Rae Johnson
Q: What gender dynamics influence stage fright, and how do societal expectations contribute?
There is a gendered layer to stage fright where women often face harsher public scrutiny about appearance and presentation, contributing to higher confidence barriers and pressure to perform perfectly.
Overcome Stage Fright | Mahlena-Rae Johnson
Q: Is stage fright normal, and where does the idea of it being a personal failing come from?
Stage fright is normal and not indicative of personal failure; understanding this helps people approach presentations with a calmer mindset and focus on preparation and connection.
Why $10K Offers Fail Gen X Women (Build Sustainable Communities Instead) | Carol Tice
Q: How should someone frame pricing and positioning to avoid the “bro marketing” approach?
She stresses that pricing should align with impact, accessibility, and the ability to help many people rather than chasing prestige. She shares personal experience of earning significant income from a low-ticket model and explains that emphasis should be on delivering consistent value, community support, and scalable offerings like upsell opportunities, coaching, or live events, rather than a single $10,000 offer.
Why $10K Offers Fail Gen X Women (Build Sustainable Communities Instead) | Carol Tice
Q: What are the first steps for a GenX woman to launch a successful paid community?
Start with a clear best opportunity by outlining life experience, passions, and work history, then assess who would pay and what they would value. Build a minimal viable content plan, recruit guest experts, and choose a platform that can scale. Focus on audience-building, competitive research, and defining the member experience early, knowing that the community's value comes from member interactions, not the founder.
