  • Wow! Wise, compassionate, rich, and helpful

So much truth and wisdom in this podcast. I felt IMMEDIATE trust in the host, whose words convey deep knowledge, experience, and truth. Her messages in each episode are so focused, and she helps the listener grow without being top-down or coming off as "I've got it all together, and you don't." What a rich support for parents -- and therefore, for LGBTQ kids -- who might feel lost or alone. HIGHLY recommend for parents who want to learn how to best love and support their queer kids!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

PFLAG National on Creating Pride in Families: The New Resource Helping Parents Build Support Networks at Work
Q: How can someone start an employee group if their company has no existing ERG for LGBTQ families?
Start by reaching out to the lead of the LGBTQ+ or parents and caregivers groups at your location, understand the steps, and consider whether the group should be standalone or a sub-group of an existing erg, then connect with HR or belonging teams to map out what is needed.
Parents of LGBTQ Kids: The Biggest Mistake Allies Make When a Child Comes Out (Interview on No Guilt Mom)
Q: Can you explain the third mindset shift about believing your children?
Believing your child is about offering validation and presence—saying, 'I believe you, I hear you, I am here for you'—which takes pressure off parents to perform and focuses on supportive listening.
Parents of LGBTQ Kids: The Biggest Mistake Allies Make When a Child Comes Out (Interview on No Guilt Mom)
Q: Whose responsibility is it to teach how to behave as an LGBTQ ally?
It's the parents' responsibility to learn and grow, to resource themselves, and to actively support their child, not expect the child to teach them; unlearning biases is part of that work.
Parents of LGBTQ Kids: The Biggest Mistake Allies Make When a Child Comes Out (Interview on No Guilt Mom)
Q: What are some of the fears that keep parents silent when their child comes out?
The fear is not about lacking love or values, but about worrying they won't say the right thing and fearing judgment from the world; the core solution is to show up with love, listening, and honesty rather than perfect language.
Voice Dysphoria: The Piece of Gender-Affirming Care That Parents of LGBTQ Teens Often Overlook
Q: What can a parent say or do if they notice their child withdrawing due to voice dysphoria?
Approach with curiosity, share your own experiences, acknowledge the child's feelings, and avoid direct pressure; use non-confrontational prompts to open up conversations about their voice journey and available resources.
