Excellent discussion and insight into Islam, especially countering the ideas that fundamentalist Christians have introduced. Having spent a summer in my youth living with a Muslim family I appreciate Qasim’s clear explanations of his faith. We need this dialogue! Thank you!

  • God had a plan

How can you believe in demi gods (which everyone already knows is mentioned in the Bible) but one God is totally absurd?

How can Eden (a paradise where you literally pick food off trees to eat, except for one) be a place where God needed Adam and Eve to slave for Him in The Garden? How can you go from being a Christian to thinking the devil is really a good guy and God is really the bad guy who condones slavery and genocide?

God had a plan, because he knew we would mess up, and that's Jesu... more

  • Ehhh

I checked out The New Evangelicals hoping for genuine critique and nuance, but it’s just evangelical dogma swapped for progressive dogma. They’ve traded Bible Belt fundamentalism for woke fundamentalism, now preaching left-wing talking points dressed up as theology. Instead of sticking to their brand of progressive Christianity, they dive into politics—encouraging third-party voting and treating “Christian nationalism” like the ultimate evil—while completely ignoring Israeli power and the Torah’... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

434. Discovering Better Logics in a Binary World
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to live out these ideas in their communities?
Engage in embodied learning, cultivate spaces that are led by queer, Black, and other marginalized voices, pursue integrity over perfection, and build online and offline communities (like The Clearing) that center meditation, interdependence, and compassion as opposed to performance or control.
434. Discovering Better Logics in a Binary World
Q: How do you navigate the tension between white progressivism and Black liberation in shaping a more inclusive faith?
The guests suggest leaning into Black liberation as a historical antidote to Christian nationalism, while recognizing the need to critique white supremacy in oneself and community, adopting practices that center black, queer, and feminine voices, and moving beyond binary racial politics toward an upside-down kingdom ethos.
432. Christian Anarchy and Gender. How to Create a More Beautiful World
Q: How does trans inclusion intersect with Christian anarchism in terms of social justice?
Trans inclusion exposes the failures of patriarchy and hierarchical control within religious institutions; embracing gender diversity is part of renewing communities through love, justice, and care for the vulnerable, aligning faith with anti-oppressive practice.
432. Christian Anarchy and Gender. How to Create a More Beautiful World
Q: In government, how would anarchist principles function on a practical level?
Governance would be community-based and local first, with rules and safety ensured through voluntary associations that focus on consent, mutual aid, and direct democracy, while larger scales build up parallel structures over time rather than imposing a top-down authority.
432. Christian Anarchy and Gender. How to Create a More Beautiful World
Q: Tell us about your concept of anarchy and how you connect it to transness.
Anarchy is about questioning hierarchies and choosing voluntary associations rather than coercive structures, applied from the personal to the communal level, including gender and faith communities; transition and self-identity are connected to metanoia and renewing the mind, which aligns with anti-authoritarian ethics.
