  • Deconstructed Non Christian - and I listen to every single one

I grew up Southern Baptist, and gay, not a good mix for acceptance or good mental health. This show shines a spotlight on everything that is wrong and still maintains the kind of love and mindfulness Christians should be about. I appreciate their brutal honesty and authenticity about both the wrong and the right things happening in religious institutions and/or traditions, and most importantly their fight against Christian nationalism and the immense harm it causes.

  • Thank you

Election Day, 2016- I cast my ballot and went straight to my car and sobbed in the parking lot. I knew it was wrong but couldn’t put words to it. I love Jesus. I just didn’t know how to make my vote align to my love of Jesus. I have struggled for the last ten years- not being about to verbalize my anger and outrage because I am a Christian. April’s book- Star Spangled Jesus put to words what I was feeling and what has been brewing in my heart. Thank you! I am now listening to this podcast along ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

132. World Cup and 2020 Election Lies: Trump is a Sore Loser
Q: What evidence supports or refutes the president's claims about the 2020 election?
CBS News and independent fact-check segments are cited to show there is no evidence of widespread fraud or tampering, and Trump officials themselves acknowledge the lack of evidence.
117. The Legal Battle Against Christian Nationalism
Q: What is the current legal strategy against Christian nationalism in government workplaces?
The aim is to enforce the separation of church and state by challenging government actors who promote religion in official capacity, using lawsuits, reporting mechanisms, and mobilizing public support to deter coercive religious messaging in federal offices.
113. The TRUTH About Abortion (It's not what you think)
Q: Can you explain what abortion is and what it isn't in medical terms?
Abortion is the medical term for a pregnancy that ends without resulting in a live birth; miscarriages are spontaneous abortions, and elective abortions are a subset that occur by choice, with various methods depending on gestational age. The distinction is important because some terminology used in politics does not map neatly onto medical reality, and understanding this helps clarify policy discussions.
109. The Epstein of the Church World: Lawyers Detail Horrifying Allegations Around Harvest Church Scandal
Q: What is the difference between a civil and a criminal case in this context?
A civil case seeks monetary damages for the wrongs, while a criminal case involves state prosecution for crimes; the lawyers note criminal charges could theoretically arise, but depend on prosecutorial decisions and jurisdiction, especially given foreign elements from Romania.
66. We're Gobbling Up that Mamdani & Trump Meeting
Q: How do you separate cultural Christianity from your personal spirituality/or relationship with God as part of your deconstruction or is that part of the whole journey?
My relationship with God and my spiritual life is mine and my own.
